Michelle Medlock Adams

Michelle Adams 1 It's a pleasure to annouce the return of Michelle Medlock Adams to the BRMCWC facutly. Many of you will remember her. She is a fantastic teacher and in great demand. Michelle will be teaching in our freelance track. Her writing experience extends from newspapers to children's book, to periodicals, to books, to collabrative writing for well known Christian leaders. She is a treasure trove of knowledge and experience.

From Michelle's web page:

Michelle Medlock Adams has always loved to write. She was bitten by the journalism bug early on, becoming editor of her sixth grade newspaper, The Panther Paw, at age 11. She spent the rest of her middle school and high school years preparing for a career as a news reporter. Upon graduation from Bedford-North Lawrence High School in Southern Indiana, she majored in journalism at Indiana University and graduated with a B.S. degree in 1991.

By February 1992, she had landed her first daily newspaper job as a city government reporter at the
Bedford Times-Mail. Over the course of her years at the paper, Michelle covered many beats: education, business, police, entertainment, religion and even sports. Her writing gained recognition, winning awards from the Associated Press, the Hoosier State Press Association, the Society of Professional Journalists and the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors.

While she loved the news game and the thrill of a deadline story, Michelle began to long for something more. She cried out to God, asking Him to use her writing for His glory—not hers. Shortly after, the door opened for her to freelance for a Christian magazine called
The Believer’s Voice of Victory in Fort Worth, Texas. That freelance opportunity eventually turned into a full-time feature-writing job, so the Adams family moved from Indiana to Texas in May 1998. Michelle worked for that worldwide ministry magazine for several years before entering the world of full-time freelance writing. Since then, she has had 32 books published, as well as thousands of articles for websites and magazines around the world. Using humor and encouraging words, Michelle is also a favorite speaker at writers' conferences and women's conferences and retreats across the country. In addition, Michelle has been a featured guest on several inspirational TV programs including: "God Answers Prayer" in Santa Fe, NM; "At Home Live" in Fort Worth, Texas; and "The Harvest Show" in South Bend, IN, on LeSea Network. She has also made several appearances on the Greenwood, IN, TBN affiliate.

In July 2006, the Adams family moved back to their Hoosier hometown to be closer to family. Michelle is currently writing from her home office in their historic home that they are in the process of renovating. She and her husband, Jeff, and their two teenage daughters, Abby and Allyson, and three miniature dachshunds reside in Bedford, IN—the Limestone Capital of the World.
